HOW TO PICK A DOMAIN NAME
1. Always go for a .com whever possible as they carry higher memory retention and more marketing value
2. With some search engines country indices eg .ca are automatically placed only in the directory for that country eg Alta Vista
3. Get a keyword or two in the url as many search engines including Google spider them
4. Do not use underscore (_) in the url use a dash (-) instead if you must use a word separator. Google will index the words separated by the dash as two distinct keywords. The underscores look like a character to Google and not many people are searching with underscores in their keyword phrase string
5. For the same reason as above do not use &, $, %, *, # or other none letter keystrokes in your domain url
6. Keep them short - sure you can find some great keyword strings but it won't give you that big of a bump and the users won't want to type it in from any print collateral advertising. They certainly won't remember it either.
